Nascitari’s opera has frequently been connected to sacred dimension of rituals. His research about a metaphysical dimension contained in noise music was already present years ago, when the artist investigated self-generated noise sounds as attestation of a superior Presence, an “uncontrollable and inexplicable source of sound” in electricity:

“Electric instruments generate casual phenomena in which the performer has not possibility to execute any sound control: in these cases, it is possible to perceive an unexpected source of sound. This source is present in the system’s disturbance, but it’s subjected to non-laws of the Uncertainty Principle: because of this, I relate this source to the presence of “God”, where this word identifies an unknown and obscure force (even if each track title derives from Gnosticism)”

First three tracks of Distrubi elettromagnetici legati alla presenza di Dio nella corrente elettrica, created in 2009, refer to this investigation in an “experimental” way, with all the implications of this term:

“I recorded the first track, Figlio-Fase, working with an akai tape recorder’s coil, and using an old tape recorder with a built-in mic I recited some electrical formulas mixed with prayers. Second track, Padre-Terra, has a ritual function: the source of sounds I used were an old TV, radio and a burning piece of cotton soaked with alcohol, all connected to a guitar effect, in order to generate casual disturbances. In the third track, Spirito-Neutro, I wanted to catch but also send invisible signals, so I recited in a transceiver some words taken from a breviary, modifying the key-words and always mixing with electrical formulas.”

Anyway, after some years a more violent and nihilist concept took place, and Nascitari’s turned to what we can call “funeral HNW”: Portatore di luce, last track of the album, celebrates artist’s proximity to “a state of apparent death” through a visceral sound that only HNW permits to create:

“I left my relics sounds to enter a dimension of total isolation and minimalism. I created my first Wall in 2010 to celebrate my funeral”

Nascitari has recently gave birth to is own label, Claustrophilia, focusing exclusively on Harsh Noise Wall.

I diversi autori coinvolti interverranno direttamente con reading delle loro opere, inframezzati dagli happening della burlesque performer SALLY VAN TASSEL. La serata si chiuderà con il live show di BECAUSE THE BEAN (da Reggio Emilia) e BLOODY RIOT, storica hardcore band romana.

Sounds used in tracks are recorded on a train somewhere in the north of Serbia. Sounds recorded with small microcassette recorder, then transfered into computer where they were played as they were synth tones. Everything was played live - no loops.

Spore: un discorso sulla musica indipendente e di ricerca, sulle prospettive e sulle opportunità del fare musica.

Spore: sono in grado di disperdersi nell'ambiente per resistere a condizioni avverse e, successivamente, generare (o rigenerare) un individuo vitale, in habitat più adatti alle loro condizioni di vita.

Quindici Desideri (Fifteen Desires) is an audio art book: a collection of erotic stories by Alda Teodorani translated in three languages (English, French, German) and illustrated by the creativity of fifteen underground artists.

The idea of Inverno Nucleare is to propose a raw black metal sound, turning far away from heavy metal classic rules and then introducing a minimalist approach closer to punk-hardcore school with all its implications: simple, effective and heavy guitar riffs accompanied with strong percussions and screamed voice. The lyrics are frequently involved with the theme of myth, seen as an essential but forgotten element in the cynical world of modern mankind, devoid of its past roots and closer than ever to a tragic, announced and forthcoming epilogue.

Californian trio Al Qaeda proposes in “Windows Peak” a collage of different sounds realized in different ways, approaching more “rock” guitar part with noise soundscapes, nonsense lyrics, passing from relaxed atmospheres to very aggressive parts of overloading deep frequencies with screaming voice, and still to electronic sounds. The result is a chaotic track about twenty minutes long, during which your attention is continuously captured by the sudden changes. Scott, Eric and Erin leverage all their different influences, sublimating and reorganizing them, walking in a way totally different from each personal experience that come out as the summa of each one's past experience and music taste.

Ragnor is a black metal band currently seated between Tarragona and Barcelona (Spain). Founded by guitarist Khorne (Aleksander K.) in June 2007, initially was created simply as a solo project.

Still, in 2008 Overlord (David B.) joined the formation, and within months they made their first demo "Hat og Nag", 4 songs, composed and recorded by both members equally, focusing Khorne on the compositions and Overlord and the vocals.

After the demo was released, the project had been inactive, and it was not until the summer of 2010 when Khorne decided to rise the project again, this time as a band of 5 members.

Thus was born the new band as it currently is, in June joined Angrod (Alvaro) on drums and Arioth (Sergio) on bass. September arrived, seeing the need for a stable vocal concerts already scheduled, Deimos entered as a vocalist. And finally Nargath (Jordi Padilla) came as a guitarist in December, honestly and at the time that the band needed him most. With this latest addition to the band managed to make their first concerts in Barcelona, and even outside Spain. Finally in March 2011 joined Abaddon (Nefret, Infernal Kingdom) on vocals and prepare to release their first official album as a band.

Satanism, violence, flesh extreme tumors. These are just few of the main visions through which Andrea Laurenti takes inspiration to create the raw harsh noise atmospheres under the pseudonym Sexterminator 69. No live shows, no public appearances: these sounds are not made to be diffused in crowded places. Sexterminator’s music, always released in limited copies for underground labels, take you to the bottom, permitting you to touch with your own hand the filth of your world. Already known for his grindcore band Bukkake Violence Kommando, in which Andrea still plays drums, since 2009 Sexterminator 69 approach to noise in a minimal way, using different guitar effects and a mixer. The result is perfect to embody Andrea’s interests: secret societies, ritual graves desecration, extreme websites, and among them the Mexican magazine Alarma!. Sexterminator 69’s world is filled by these kind of images his music faithfully represents.

On the other side, autocancrena’s atmospheres are conceived as a journey through which the present writer (Lorenzo Chiarofonte) tries to recognize his own secret pulsions. Cathartic, disturbing and psychedelic, I tried to give a soundtrack to a masturbation act, slowly increasing and at least liberating: field recordings, subliminal sex messages, loops, dark or harsh atmosphere are always focused on a specific target. Here individual psychosis can be released without permission, without apology. Common morality is abolished, the individual tries to take control and to face his own subconscious. The battle is lost, the istinct takes control. Take cover.

Sgarbi Electronic Mafia

Gioventù Suicida Studentesca (literally “Suicidal Student Youth”) is the pseudonym behind which Emanuele Ratti proposes death-industrial sound since 2007. Side-project of Emanuele’s Aethere (dark ambient one-man-project active for a long time), GSS dissociates from past dark, melancholy and intimate atmospheres and evidently undergoes Brighter Death Now influence: GSS deals with “tragic” themes but always within a contemptuous humor, half way between amusement and disillusion. So, beside classic themes concerning blood of innocent (“Anna Maria Franzoni on Italia1”), GSS highlights the italian culture of TV personalities (“Sgarbi electronic mafia”), sometimes giving “voice” to ethical broad themes, as the case of euthanasia (“Welby mon amour”).

We can say GSS' composition begins by external influence: there are no songs inspired by personal feelings, and no song is totally independent from what occurs in society. Each song is build on the basis of interviews, talk shows, dialogues found on the net or on TV and stolen from social life.

In “Sgarbi Electronic Mafia” GSS translates to music an example of the big italian TV “political” brawls: fake provocateur and TV character, Vittorio Sgarbi’s screams are sampled and mixed with talk show applauses sounds and other TV dialogues. The violence of Sgarbi’s appearances in talk shows (but that’s just an example of the extended violence that in general appears on TV) is here emphasized through a continuous deep and heavy electronic percussion, both with a slowly growing of background raw noise and keyboard atmosphere that brings the end of the song to an overload of sound, while the rhythm of TV sample increases more and more.

Half between Brighter Death Now and Genocide Organ, GSS’ music style has a particular attention for arrangement, probably because Emanuele’s experience feels the effects of his long time playing in a anything but minimal dark ambient project. In 2007 the mini album “Lovely happy Italy”, out with the Desert Factory (Japan), wanted to be a presentation of GSS’ sound. In April 2011 is expected the first full length “Musiche per un Popolo all’Ultimo Grido”, to be released by Desert Factory in 500 copies. Another split with Cain Arbour (power electronics from Turin, Italy) is actually under construction, next to the planning of a new GSS’ full length.

DYSKINESIA

Disturbo disintegrativo dell'infanzia

Dyskinesia was born in the end of 2006 as a stoner-doom band composed of double guitars and drums. With this line-up the band release its first full length “Live in Prypiat” through the label Varjot Prodoctions (Finland). In 2008 the line up reaches five members (double guitar, drums, bass and vocals): the band decides to quit with the classic stoner-doom sound of “Live in Prypiat” and gives birth to “Dyskinesia” (out through the italian label Frohike Records in 2009), where guitar feedbacks and overloaded effects, variable drums playing, distorted bass line and vocals over-reverberation create songs dense of obsessive and choking atmospheres that sometimes slowly brings you to a climax of real music explosion.

Once started, experimentation doesn’t stop: in 2009 is out the split with the Italian noise project Corpoparassita (also released by Frohike Records in 2009) where Dyskinesia proposes two noise tracks, in which compact bass riffs, repetitive (but never stock) drums rhythms, alienating screams and heavy guitar distortions (“Ipogeo”) meets the slow and experimental sound climax (“La formica di Langton”) already seen in “Dyskinesia” but where the past music explosion give way to a very deep noise sound.

Mindful of the just passed noise experience, “Disturbo disintegrativo dell’infanzia” starts with a continuous and repetitive raw guitar riff: next to this constant drive appear sporadic percussion shots, long screaming vocals and distorted bass line. The appearance of a clean and melodic guitar note progressively transforms the song to a slow and alienated ballad, but just to conclude again with a noise sound where drums and guitar solos show all their aggression before the unavoidable end.

Dyskinesia’s sound is strong influenced by Mono and Godspeed You! Black Emperor’s post-rock music met with a free sound experimentation: that brought the band to deal with genres as noise, power noise, rock and trip-hop. Dyskinesia are characterized by a continuous sound researching and by a process of musical composition that doesn’t want to meet any limit.

Actually the band is working to create new sound material to use in different projects still under construction. In 2011 is expected the releasing of “Dalla nascita”, new full length out with Frohike Records.

Dr. Alex never goes to a compromise. Dead Body Collection's wall is full, dynamically scratchy, unchanged and monolitic: the minimal variations that characterize the sound in a obscure psychological unfeeling are completely fused with the wall. DBC sins and doesn't repent. Never.

Despite the short time since it works, Dr. Alex's one man project Dead Body Collection is one of the most prolific serbian HNW artists actually operating in the underground: his works, alternating between splits and solo albums, have been released from different labels in tape and cd-r format, always in very limited edition. Previous experience saw Dr. Alex perform in the power electronics/industrial duo [C.T.D.] under the alias of Dr. Aleksandryuki Nenawasetsu together with Dr. Mukawaraya Useitamuro, active since 2008.

In Svartvit's wall there's no place for imagination: his sound is a concentrate of violence that never leaves your mind free, raw but defined, static and fluid at the same time, with a sonorous and compact base. The perfect soundtrack to react and riot against the fakest democracies the West has ever known.

Svartvit is a project founded in Netherlands by Kevin Jansen in 2008: since this year he released his works in tapes and cd-r through various labels and appeared in a compilation. In the near future he's going to release two more tapes, one 7" and one boxset. He has also released sounds under the names UN (minimalist HNW) and Teenage Arsonist (cut up harsh noise). Svartvit is equally influenced by The Rita (HNW project) and old school hardcore-punk. Themes involve personal grudges, socio-political views, nihilism, the process of destruction and the world after apocalypse. On this release he only occupied various empty tape players and a mixer, delving deep into every bit of electronic hiss to create a crunchy wall with a lo-fi feeling.

Performed through electric guitar sounds distortions and feedbacks, contact mic overloads and synthesizer, “Bosco Sacro”, Italian definition for “sacred grove”, is a tribute to global mystery cults and their ecstatic aspects: first two tracks, “Nemeton” and “Temenos”, refers to the ancient west tradition of Celts and Greeks, while “Devarakadus” and “杜”, third and fourth tracks, are linked to the oriental Indian and Japanese tree cults. Reactivated and interpreted even according to Bey’s “Temporary Autonomous Zones”, the sacred spaces as forests, glades and springs Enorches refers to are connected to mystical and pagan cults and their relationship to natural elements.

Enorches is the project through which the italian Daniele Tripone signs his most mystical inspired sounds. The greek word “enorches” means “with testicles”, and it is one of the epithets reported to the grecian god Dionysus, erroneously considerate only as the god of wine: the image of Dionysus Enorches refers to is intead the wrathful and shamanic god connected to Nature, Chaos and all the vital instincts that modern society attempts to suppress. Even if inspired by these themes, anyway, Enorches’ noise is not the mere reproduction of these ones: his sound is instinctive (dionisyac), performed without using any digital instruments in order to regain the corporal element denied by technology. This aesthetic matured along the time: always fascinated by mysticism and exoterism, Daniele started his noise experience as PPP in 2008, and only after a while and without any planning the project naturally “evolved” and took the colours of greek-roman pagan mythology and religion.

Actually Daniele runs Tapemancy Recordings, underground label settled in Bologna focused on releasing tapes and music connected with sacred thematic: each item he releases comes in a very limited edition and in an elegant and effective packaging.

Patrick started his musical experience with DJ’ing: after several years of “terrible shitcore music”, he decided to progressively turn to experimental noise, and among 2005-2006 the noise project “RedSK” started. It takes some years before Patrick decided to take the project seriously: also involved in a lot of side projects, alter-aliases and collaborative groups, RedSK has actually released hundred works all around the world, involving various DIY labels and collaborating with a lot of artists. Moreover, RedSK performed in a lot of live performances in the area of Detroit, Michigan.

The songs appearing in this release are the proof of the different musical forms RedSK can be involved in: after the brief “Constipation”, performed using just improvised guitar notes, the sound turn to dynamic and never boring harsh noises (“Diaries Of A Drug Mule”), next to which simple and percussive samples give rhythm to the song. The side ends with a psychedelic song (“I Was Raised Drinking Water From The Detroit River”), where harsh noise leaves room for a more introspective and continuative sound, manipulated with reverb and delay effects.

Actually Patrick runs the DIY label “TRASHFUCK Records”: Each release is assembled by hand in limited run quantities and put up for download after they sell out.

After an experience with digital noise, in 2009 Markus’ project “I Dreamt Of Her Beautiful Tentacles” started perform analog harsh noise. First IDOHBT recording was realized using microphone, Casio keyboard and guitar amplifier, but the most recent setup sees the presence of mixer and few distortion pedals beside which sometimes appears guitar, keyboard and mic’d junk. IDOHBT’s influences goes from the early Japanese noise scene to Harsh Noise and Power Electronics, with no attention for a particular noise artist: IDOHBT is influenced by the scene as a whole.

“Gunrunning Speedfreak”, first song of this split, is all incentrate on harsh noise tones modulation, beside which delay effect gives dynamicity to the sound that continuously get higher or lower, without any rule. The last two songs (“Polly Maggoo” and “Vomit”), which both see the presence of sounds extracted by external sources, reveals a more aggressive and dirty sound, but always in a dynamic and unpredictable way: the noise is here performed in order to create a solid basis on which install feedbacks and overloads.

By the end of 2010 Markus started the side project Jane Cutter, under which he allows himself to increase his experimental taste, also including the unforgotten digital elements.

Rejekts started their experience in 2006 in Varese (North Italy). In these years, totally dedicated to classic Hard Core Punk, Rejekts slowly turned to a Grind Core sound. After few and useless live show and several line-up changes, in 2009-2010 the band started to play live in a serious way in shows organized by the local anarchic-squatting movement. Ojodoro. Ojo d'oro. As: “golden eye” in Spanish. Or: AlexandrO JODOROwsky. And: if someone'd put the psychomagic in music... that's what it is. Ojodoro is a quintet that is a collaboration between members of Eierkoch-Automatic and Suburban Howl. So: a tribute to the director and psychomagist, whose poetry subliminally influences the improvisations of the combo.

The attempt is to merge elements of psycho-folk with the European avant-garde free improvisations; the result is a sonic building made of unusual noises, crackling sounds, obsessive tones and continuous groanings from hell. It is all about “instrumental”: not only musical but material buildings of instruments that sound like... anything. For the uniqueness of these five musician from Italy is they've self-made their cello, built their objects to play, put on an ensemble of drums, kalimba, guitars, saxophones, hosepipes, whistles, and so on... that is quite impressive.

The recordings are and will be the result of convergence rituals, by their very nature captured live.

The circular arrangement of the musicians on stage symbolically represents the cyclical nature of the improvisations that follow one another seamlessly.

Think about an acoustic defragmentation of free-jazz issues, embodied in a non-rhythmic non-digital noise, and clanking sounds from the winds: the language breaks up, the reality goes onto dream, and everything is felt as an utter dystopia. That is, exactly the peak of Ojodoro's poetics, when you cannot move along with anything but an existentialist onomatopoeia.

The italian experimental noise project RBMK-1000 was born in 2009 after Stefano Siteni, Using A Cold Knife percussionist deeply fascinated by nuclear eingineering, decided to translate in music his interests concerning the Chernobyl disaster. RBMK-1000’s “Pripyat” is the manifestation of this affection, but this work is not to be a concept through which venting obsessions or dealing with anxiety (as UCK’s industrial aesthetics was), and it has really nothing to do with these: “Pripyat” is not and industrial work.

Through the use of samples, voice reverse mode and a massive use of electronics beside conventional (drums and cymbals) and unconventional percussions (metals, plastic barrels and all that can be beaten), the album appears as something totally cold: it has been conceived as the rapid spreading of something unnatural and it lacks of a definite shape. The short songs (only one is over 4 minutes, the remaining ones are about 3 minutes each) don’t present anything similar to a musical structure. “Pripyat” is rapid and undefined as only a radioactive genetic mutation can be, it’s noisy and confused as a NPP can sound. At the same time the inclusion of 1986’s ukrainian and italian news, supermarket sounds and voices and ukrainian nursery rhymes refers to the collective imaginary concerning Chernobyl that still affects all the world.
Actually RBMK-1000 is conceiving a new album to be totally realized through unconventional percussions and he’s finally entered as vocalist in the black metal band Inverno Nucleare.

COMIX ABOUT FUCKING - INTRODUZIONE DI ALEX PAPA:

Ravanando nella palude merdosa dell’underground italiano, popolata da vecchie glorie ormai rincoglionite e da giovani artistoidi in grado di competere, per deficit neuronale, con gli sniffatori di colla di Kathmandu, le produzioni firmate “SS-Sunda” sono per me uno dei pochi nutrimenti psichici rivitalizzanti di questi tempi.

Nei suoi fumetti o nei suoi film, SS-Sunda ha il dono di regalare a profusione genialate esilaranti, “Automatismi psichici puri” (per citare Breton) che sembrano uscire dalla sua mente malata con la stessa facilità con cui esce uno stronzo dall’ano, o una sborrata davanti a un bel culo.

I fumetti ricordano i suoi cortometraggi più sfrenati, il capolavoro “L'ultimo giorno di Macho Mask” e i corti-trailers “Mondo porno di Edmondo”, esilaranti opere al di là del bene e del male, che sembrano partorite da un John Waters delle origini all’ennesima potenza.

Se poi consideriamo che nel disegno è migliorato tantissimo, e che alla regia ha dimostrato un eclettismo raro (il più recente “The Diabolikal Super-Kriminal” è un vero e proprio documentario coi controcazzi) allora dovrete anche voi dare la caccia a tutto ciò che ha partorito, abbeverandovi del suo nettare. Perché leggere un fumetto o guardare un film di SS-Sunda è, metaforicamente, come bersi un litro del suo piscio (dopo che lui si è ingurgitato dieci cappelle di amanita muscaria).
